McCoy top RB on MVP Watch list
By Phil Sheridan
Dan Graziano of ESPN.com has released his weekly MVP Watch column. The first five players on his top 10 list, not surprisingly, are quarterbacks.
No. 6? LeSean McCoy.
That's fitting. After Sunday's games, the NFL's leading rusher was a quarterback. Oakland's Terrelle Pryor ran for 112 yards. McCoy reclaimed the top spot in the name of running backs everywhere with his eye-popping 31-carry, 184-yard performance in Washington Monday night.
Before the season, Eagles left tackle Jason Peters predicted that McCoy would have 1,000 rushing yards by Week 10.
"He said it, so I guess we have to do it," McCoy said.
One week in, he's on pace for 1,840 yards in 10 games. That's probably not a realistic number, but McCoy will be the featured back in an offense designed to get him the ball with room to move.
"There's so much room and so much space to make plays," McCoy said. "I don't know if 30 carries is going to happen every week."
"LeSean is going to have a great year," quarterback Michael Vick said. "I just feel like this year is going to be one of the biggest years of his career."
