Locker Room Buzz: Pittsburgh Steelers
By Scott Brown
Observed in the locker room after the Pittsburgh Steelers' 40-23 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Simple math: Outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley didn’t make a bold prediction as much as he clung to simple arithmetic after the Steelers fell to 0-3. “We’ve got a chance to go 13-3,” Woodley said. When asked his rationale for this, Woodley said the Steelers still have 13 games left to play. “It’s realistic,” he said.
Quick exit: The home locker room at Heinz Field emptied so fast that there were virtually no players left after a beat reporter made his way to it after first hitting deadline with his game stories. Perhaps cornerback Ike Taylor best summed up what the Steelers are facing when he said, “We’ve got to fight, we’ve got to fight, we’ve got to fight.”
Digging out: Coach Mike Tomlin said “no stones will be left unturned” as the Steelers try to dig their way out of the team’s first 0-3 start since 2000. And it appears Kelvin Beachum will be given the opportunity to challenge for the starting job at left or right tackle.
Key stats: A pair of fours were anything but two of a kind for Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers quarterback threw for 400 yards for the fourth time in his career, but he also committed four turnovers, two of which the Bears returned for touchdowns. "“We are going to have to put it together and put it together fast,” Roethlisberger said.
