Bucs decide to wait on Charles Sims

CLEVELAND -- Although the Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed rookie running back Charles Sims on the regular roster Saturday, they apparently don’t believe he’s quite ready to play.

Sims, who had been on injured reserve for the first seven games, is among the inactives for Sunday’s game at Cleveland. He’s coming off an ankle injury, but has practiced the last two weeks.

Starting running back Doug Martin (ankle injury) also is inactive. That means Bobby Rainey is likely to get the start and most of the carries, with Mike James as the top backup.

Also inactive for the Bucs are cornerback Brandon Dixon, linebacker Brandon Magee, guard Kadeem Edwards and tackle Anthony Collins. Oniel Cousins is expected to start in Collins’ place at left tackle.
