Will Pittsburgh host 2012 NHL draft?

Will the Steel City host next year's NHL draft?

Well, a source familiar with the process told ESPN.com's Scott Burnside on Monday that Pittsburgh is the front-runner to host the 2012 event, but it is not yet a done deal.

"We have submitted our application to the league," Penguins vice president of communications Tom McMillan told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, which reported on the rumblings Sunday. "We're hopeful."

It would be the first time the city has hosted the draft since 1997.
