Here’s some notes regarding Jarome Iginla's 500th goal, which he scored Saturday night:

-- Iginla was actually a 1st-round pick of the Dallas Stars, in 1995. He never played a game for the Stars and was traded with Corey Millen on December 19, 1995, for future Hall of Famer Joe Nieuwendyk.

-- Iginla is the Flamers all-time leader in many categories. He’ll join Lanny McDonald as the only players to score their 500th career goal in a Flames uniform (March 21, 1989).

-- Iginla has scored at least 30 goals in each of the previous 10 seasons and at least 25 goals in each of the previous 12 seasons.

-- There’s been some unique situations where players have scored their 500th career goal:
* Wayne Gretzky, Mike Bossy, Jari Kurri and Keith Tkachuk (on the final day of the season) scored their 500th goals into an empty net
* Mats Sundin scored his 500th career goal in OT while shorthanded to complete a hat trick on Oct. 14, 2006
* Jeremy Roenick scored his 500th career goal on Nov. 10, 2007. It came off a bank shot from center ice and was accidentally pushed over the goal line by Coyotes goalie Alex Auld as Auld tried to get back to the net when the puck took an odd bounce off the boards.
