  • Flyer GM Paul Holmgren said he is disappointed that they did not get Shea Weber, but they like their current team and aren't planning any more moves, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I don't think there are any Shea Webers out there that are left in that category, so I don't see that as being an option, certainly this year," Holmgren said, according to the report.
  • Rick Nash said Wednesday he asked for a trade because he thought the best way for the Blue Jackets to rebuild was to swap him for future assets, according to The New York Times. “I told him there was no better place to rebuild than to get some assets for me. He said, ‘If that’s what you think, then we’ll try to do something.’ That’s how it all came about,” Nash said according to the report.
  • Weber told reporters his agent's comments about the defenseman wanting to be in Philadelphia were the feelings of his agent, not Weber's opinion, according to The Tennessean. “I guess that was [agent Jarrett Bousquet’s] feelings. Like I said, I was never a part of any of that. I didn’t make any statements publicly,” Weber said, according to the report.
  • The Red Wings are expected to announce that Scotty Bowman will coach Detroit's alumni squad at the Winter Classic, according to mlive.com.
  • Darren McCarty dropped the final personal protection order he had against former friends in Oakland County Circuit Court, according to the Detroit Free Press. McCarty said in June when he sought the multiple orders of protection that people were threatening him because he would no longer party with them, according to the paper.
