Sidney Crosby will look to extend his points streak to 17 games tonight when the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Here are some stats to ponder heading into the game:

• Crosby has 33 points (18 goals and 15 assists) during his current run, the longest in the NHL so far this season.

• It's the third time in his career he has had a 16-game points streak. His record? A 19-game streak from Oct. 6-Nov. 17, 2007, but Crosby already has three more points during this run.

Longest points streaks in Crosby's career:

19: Oct. 6-Nov. 17, 2007

16: Nov. 5-present

16: Feb. 16-April 1, 2009

• He leads the NHL in goals (24) and points (48) and is second overall in assists (24).

• According to Elias Sports Bureau, Crosby's 554 points in his first 400 career NHL games is the most among active players. Alex Ovechkin (536) and Teemu Selanne (525) are the only other active players to reach at least 500 points through 400 games.

Most points in first 400 NHL games (active players):

Sidney Crosby, 554

Alex Ovechkin, 536

Teemu Selanne, 525

Mark Recchi, 493

Dany Heatley, 452

The Penguins, for what it's worth, have also been on a roll. They've won 10 straight games, tying the second-longest streak in franchise history. The longest was 17 games during the 1992-93 season.

So do you think Crosby will extend his points streak against the Maple Leafs and beyond?
