Western Conference Semifinals
Red Wings at Blackhawks, 8 ET (Series tied 3-3)

Wednesday night makes it two straight nights with a Game 7 on the ice as the Blackhawks host the Red Wings. It’s the third all-time meeting between the teams in a Game 7 and the first since 1965. The Red Wings have enjoyed more Game 7 success than any team in NHL history, holding the record for most wins (14) and best win pct (.609) among team with at least 10 games played. The Blackhawks – who trailed 3-1 in the series – have never won a best-of-7 series after trailing 3-1 (previously 0-11).

Recent Champs Represented? If the Blackhawks win Game 7 Wednesday night, the final four teams in the playoffs will have accounted for each of the last four Stanley Cups (Kings 2012, Bruins 2011, Blackhawks 2010, Penguins 2009). According to Elias, there has been only one final four in NHL/NBA playoff history in which each team won its league championship in one of the previous four seasons (1945 NHL -- Bruins, Red Wings, Canadiens, Maple Leafs).

* 3rd all-time meeting between Red Wings and Blackhawks in a Game 7 and 1st since April 15, 1965 (Blackhawks defeated Red Wings in 1965; Red Wings defeated Blackhawks in 1964)
* Red Wings: 14 Game 7 wins (most in NHL history)
* Red Wings: .609 win percentage (14-9) in Game 7s is best in NHL history among teams that have played a minimum of 10 Game 7s
* Red Wings: 3-4 all-time on road in Game 7s (1-0 this postseason – defeated Ducks in Conference Quarterfinals)
* Red Wings: defeated Ducks in 7 games in 2013 Conference Quarterfinals; ELIAS: Just once in Red Wings franchise history have they started a postseason by winning their first two series in 7 games (that came in 1950, won Stanley Cup… postseason was only 2 rounds back then)
* Blackhawks: won last 2 games after trailing 3-1; have never won a best-of-seven series after trailing 3-1 (tried and failed 11 times)
* Blackhawks: 6-4 all-time in Game 7s (last win came in 1995 Conference Quarterfinals vs Maple Leafs)
* 149th series in NHL history that has gone to a Game 7. Home teams are 89-59 all-time in Game 7s (.601 win pct).
