FROM ELIAS: Rookie defenseman Olli Maatta's tiebreaking goal with 1:54 remaining in the third period was the game-winner for the Penguins’ in their 4–3 victory over the Capitals. He's only the second rookie defenseman in Penguins history to score a go-ahead goal in the last two minutes of the third period. The first was Jean-Guy Lagace in a game against the Sabres on March 24, 1973 (his first NHL goal). Maata, who also registered an assist on Pittsburgh’s second goal, has recorded points in 13 games in his first season in the NHL and the Penguins have won every one of those 13 games.
