LOS ANGELES -- It looks like Paul Kariya's three-year stint in St. Louis is at an end.
It's believed the Blues will not make the one-time 50-goal scorer a contract offer and he will become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
After coming back from hip surgery that cost him most of the 2008-09 season, Kariya had 18 goals last season for the Blues. He is working out this summer with the intention of playing, but Kariya, who will turn 36 early in the coming season, will have to wait and see what kind of interest there might be when the free-agent market opens July 1.
Here's hoping this isn't the end of the line for one of the classiest players in the league, a player who at one point was one of the most skilled forwards in the NHL.
