Bold Choices: Capitals' blame game?

They earned the top seed in the Eastern Conference. They changed their system to focus on defense in order to have success in the postseason. They even made it out of the first round in only five games.

But the Washington Capitals are back in the same position after getting swept out of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

There are a number of reasons for this team's collapse. They struggled on the power play. Their stars were outplayed. They made too many mistakes.

Bold Choices: Is Bruce Boudreau not the right coach to get the Capitals to the next level? Has general manager George McPhee not put together the right group of players? Does Alex Ovechkin not have the mental toughness to win in the postseason and motivate his teammates as the captain? Did the new defensive system ruin what made their offensive players great?
