Morning jam: Quick overnight game facts
By Elias Sports Bureau
- Daniel Alfredsson scored one goal and assisted on another on Saturday. Alfredsson has tallied five goals and three assists over his past three games, with at least two points in each game. Alfredsson’s total of eight points is the highest total that he has recorded over any personal three-game span since he set his career high with 13 points in three games from January 24 through February 9, 2008. (During that 2008 span, he had a seven-point game and a five-point game with a one-point performance sandwiched between them.)
- Washington’s Michal Neuvirth recorded his third win in three games against the Canadiens this season. Neuvirth is the fourth goaltender in Capitals history to beat Montreal three times in one season. The others: Don Beaupre (1991-92), Jim Carey (1995-96) and Olaf Kolzig, who did it twice (1999-2000 and 2000-01).
- Saturday's win against Buffalo was Toronto’s first win at Air Canada Centre since a 6-3 victory over Edmonton on February 6. Between that game and the one on Saturday night, every other NHL team recorded at least three wins on home ice, and the Penguins won 12 times in Pittsburgh!
