Western Conference finals facts

By John Parolin, ESPN Stats and Analysis

No. 3 Phoenix Coyotes vs. No. 8 Los Angeles Kings

• The Kings (1.45) and Coyotes (1.38) have the second- and third-best 5-on-5 goals for/against ratio in the NHL playoffs. Only New Jersey (1.85) has a better ratio.
• Coyotes center Antoine Vermette leads the team with five goals. Vermette’s 29.4 shooting percentage (5 goals on 17 shots) is second in the league among players with at least 15 shots.
• The Kings scored a pair of power-play goals in the first game of their playoff run, a 4-2 win against the Canucks. Since that game, the Kings have converted two of their 39 opportunities (5.1 pct).
• Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick has the best save percentage in the playoffs (.949) among goalies with at least four games played. Quick is one of only two goalies (Vancouver's Roberto Luongo is the other) to not allow a goal through the 5-hole in the playoffs (minimum two games played).
• Kings defenseman Drew Doughty has 14 giveaways in the playoffs, the most of any player.
• Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith has the second-best save percentage in the playoffs (.948) among goalies with at least four games played. Smith is the only goaltender with multiple shutouts (two) in the playoffs.
