Do you remember all of the great battles between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals? Get ready to relive history, because the two teams will play an alumni game as a lead up to the Winter Classic.
The game, which will be held on New Year's Eve at Heinz Field, will be Mario Lemieux's first organized game since his final retirement in 2006.
The Penguins' squad will also include Hall of Famers Paul Coffey, Ron Francis and Bryan Trottier, along with Bill Guerin, who announced his retirement on Monday.
Peter Bondra will lead the Capitals' team. Full rosters have not been announced.
"We all grew up playing on outdoor rinks, so we're really looking forward to having this chance to skate on the Winter Classic rink at Heinz Field," Lemieux said in a statement released by the Penguins. "There is so much history between the Penguins and Capitals and it will be good to get together and see friends on both benches."
