Chris Pronger can't predict playing future
Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger said the pain in his back and leg is gone, but he does not know whether he will be ready for the start of the 2011-12 season.
"I can't tell you," Pronger said on a conference call, according to NHL.com. "I'm not Kreskin. I can't look into the future and tell you what's going to happen or not happen. Time is really all you can have -- time and patience."
Pronger had surgery May 12 to remove a herniated disc from his spinal cord and will not begin rehabilitation for another month.
"As far as I was told, it went very well," Pronger said, according to the report. "It relieved a lot of the weakness I was having in my leg, and now it is just a matter of how the nerve regenerates itself and the range of motion and all the rest of that stuff. How it recovers and that stuff are probably another four to five weeks before we see where that is at."
Pronger, who helped lead the Flyers to the Stanley Cup finals last season, was limited to 50 regular-season games this year, scoring just four goals. He also played in three playoff games and was a minus-3.
