Former North Carolina assistant coach Jerod Haase may have left to become head coach at UAB, but the Tar Heels will be seeing plenty of him for the next three seasons.

The Tar Heels and Blazers have agreed to a three-year series, UAB announced on its website.

The Blazers will play at UNC on Dec. 1. Then the Tar Heels will travel to UAB's Bartow Arena in 2013-14, with UAB returning to Chapel Hill the following season.

Haase, who played for Roy Williams at Kansas, and was an assistant coach for him with the Jayhawks and Tar Heels for 13 seasons, said he was excited about the series:
"Coach Williams proves to me once again that he is the most loyal guy in the world and someone who truly cares about his former players and coaches," Haase told the web site. "For him to do this for me and the UAB program certainly speaks volumes about the type of person he is.

"The challenge needless to say is a huge one. North Carolina is arguably the top program in the country. At the same time, this presents a huge opportunity for us in terms of exposure for our program. We will have a team that is growing and hopefully it will be a learning experience and a good experience for our team."
