Bullock, Hairston game-day decisions
By Robbi Pickeral
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina sophomore wing P.J. Hairston (sprained left knee) and junior wing Reggie Bullock (contusions on right middle and ring fingers) were expected to be limited during Friday's practice, a team spokesman said, and their availability for Saturday's game against UAB will be decided on Saturday.
Hairston didn’t make the trip to Indiana because of his injury, which he suffered during Sunday’s practice, and Bullock got hurt during that Tuesday night loss.
"It was around the 12 minute mark of the second half, and Cody Zeller, he had dove on the floor for the jump ball, and he stepped on my hand,'' Bullock said before Friday's practice, adding that he hoped to be able to play Saturday.
Bullock said the biggest issue isn't shooting, but being able to catch the ball, "because when you catch a ball, your fingers have got to be able to wrap around the ball. And my [middle] finger can't actually come straight."
Their health and availability are key, because they are two of the Tar Heels’ biggest offensive threats. Hairston is third on the team in scoring (10.8 ppg) and is 12-for-34 from 3-point range this season. Bullock leads the team in 3s (16-34), and is second in scoring at 11.6 ppg.
