Tyler Eifert is one of eight semifinalists for the John Mackey Award, given to the nation's top tight end.

Eifert was one of three finalists last year for the award, which went to Clemson's Dwayne Allen.

The senior has 34 catches for 470 yards and three touchdowns for Notre Dame this season, and he is coming off a six-catch, 67-yard performance in a Saturday win at Boston College.

Three finalists for this year's award will be announced next Monday, with the winner being honored at the Dec. 6 ESPNU college football awards show.
