My pick for the national title game will come, some day. Truth is, I've been going back and forth on this matchup since it became official, and with three more weeks until the contest, I have nearly three more weeks to make up my mind.

For now, you get colleague Mark Schlabach's pick, along with his forecast for every other bowl game.

The verdict? A much higher-scoring game than most of us are anticipating. Mark takes Alabama by a 31-17 score. You can read more from him here.

Phil Steele, meanwhile, looks at the stock report of all bowl teams, saying that both Alabama and Notre Dame will be even coming off their national title game appearances. Insider

Elsewhere, Scouts Inc. ranks college football's 25 best true sophomores, freshmen and redshirt freshmen -- those who are not draft-eligible -- with Stephon Tuitt coming in at No. 9. Insider

Tuitt, of course, is a Georgia product, and the Irish's ability to go into SEC territory and land top-level talent makes them one of five programs in great position to conquer the SEC monster, says RecruitingNation's Mitch Sherman.

Of course, as Sherman writes, the greatest validation could come with a win on Jan. 7.
