Louis Nix out against Navy

October, 31, 2013
Louis Nix will miss his second straight game for Notre Dame because of knee tendinitis, coach Brian Kelly said.

The redshirt junior did not travel to the Fighting Irish's game last week at Air Force and will not dress Saturday against Navy. He was limited both weeks in practice leading up to the contests against option offenses.

Nix, a 6-foot-2, 342-pound nose guard, is currently ranked the No. 6 draft-eligible prospect by Scouts Inc.

Kona Schwenke is expected to start his fifth game of the season, and his second in a row in place of Nix. Schwenke had started three games earlier this season at defensive end in place of Sheldon Day, who had a sprained ankle.

Day (ankle), Elijah Shumate (hamstring) and Chris Watt (knee) are expected to play.
