Wide receiver Will Mahone is no longer enrolled at Notre Dame, school spokesman Dennis Brown confirmed to ESPN.com, just more than three weeks after he was arrested on five offenses near his hometown of Youngstown, Ohio.
Mahone, a redshirt sophomore, had been suspended from the program indefinitely following a June 14 arrest in Austintown Township, Ohio, for disorderly conduct, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, intimidation of a public servant and vandalism of a government entity. Three of the charges are felonies: assault on an officer (first degree), intimidation of a public servant (third) and vandalism of a government entity (five).
Mahone was buried on the depth chart at running back behind Cam McDaniel, Tarean Folston and Greg Bryant before moving to slot receiver, where he did not figure into the rotation behind Amir Carlisle and C.J. Prosise. He redshirted in 2012, saw limited action against Purdue and Michigan State in 2013 and missed practice this past spring following surgery on a fractured right foot in March.
Mahone was an ESPN four-star recruit from the Class of 2012.
