The whirlwind recruitment of four-star offensive tackle Arik Armstead (Elk Grove, Calif./Pleasant Grove) came to an end Sunday, as Armstead picked Oregon over Auburn, Cal, Notre Dame and Washington.
An early commitment to USC before backing off, Armstead looked destined for Cal before defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi left for Washington.
Oregon head coach Chip Kelly and linebacker coach Don Pellum's home visit last week won Armstead over. Though labeled by many as a future offensive lineman, Armstead wished to play defense, something he is expected to do with the Ducks.
He also wished to play basketball, and Oregon hoops coach Dana Altman played a big role in his recruitment as well.
