No one should be surprised by the speed of the Atkinson twins, especially after George returned two kickoffs for touchdowns last season.
Turns out the freshmen are displaying that speed elsewhere, too. From Notre Dame:
Irish freshman football players George Atkinson III and brother Josh Atkinson both ran the 60 meters for the Irish over the weekend at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind. George finished seventh in the finals at 6.92 after ending seventh in the semifinals (6.88) and seventh in the heats (6.90). Josh ran a 6.98 in the heats, good for 16th, then ended up 12th in the semifinals at 6.97.
Their father, of course, is George Atkinson Jr., who won a Super Bowl while playing for the Raiders from 1968-77 and is now a broadcaster.
