Notre Dame's newest quarterback may not even throw for 1,000 yards this fall at the high school level. But Malik Zaire may be ideal for the Irish's spread offense.
The school offered Zaire (Kettering, Ohio/Archbishop Alter) in February without seeing the 6-foot, 190-pounder throw live, and the ESPNU 150 Watch List quarterback committed to Notre Dame last Sunday.
"It was never a concern," Zaire said. "I think a lot of coaches look off of potential, look for footwork and fundamentals. They don't have a lot of time to look at 12 minutes of film of different types of passes. My film was short enough that they can see all of it but long enough to make them see what they need to see."
