Yes, you read that headline correctly. Notre Dame nose guard Louis Nix has scooped us all with the health update of his head coach.
In an YouTube episode of "Chocolate News," Nix catches Brian Kelly with linebacker Kendall Moore outside the Gug, getting a few words out of the third-year Irish coach on his recent surgery for a herniated disk in his lower back.
"Excellent," Kelly said of the surgery. "Thirty-minute surgery, in and out. Don't remember much, but they added two more inches to me, so I'm about 5-foot-10-and-a-half now."
"I'm thinking this year because we all know what we're doing, we've all worked so hard, I don't know that I'll have much to yell about. Just more encouragement," Kelly later adds. "And now with the surgery I'll be able to do a lot more chest-bumping."
One of the admittedly selfish subplots of all of the Nix transfer talk this spring was the possibility us media members would lose one of the best -- and definitely the funniest -- interviews on the team. As episode 2 of "Chocolate News" shows us, Nix can fire off the questions just as well as he can handle receiving them.
