Stephon Tuitt was added to the watch list for the Bednarik Award, which is given to the nation's top defensive player.

Tuitt's six sacks through four games makes him second in the nation, half of a sack off the lead. He has been instrumental in a Notre Dame defensive attack that has limited opponents to nine points per game.

Manti Te'o, meanwhile, saw his name pop up on another national award, as the senior linebacker was named of 147 semifinalists -- and one of 50 FBS players -- for the William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes the best scholar-athlete in the nation.

Requirements are a minimum 3.2 GPA from a senior or graduate-student in his final year of eligibility. He must be a first-teamer or significant contributor and demonstrate strong leadership or citizenship as well.

Other familiar names on the list include Navy's Keegan Wetzel, Purdue's Robert Maci, BYU's Riley Nelson and USC's Matt Barkley.
