Riddick, Brindza earn final FBS POW honors
By Matt Fortuna
Theo Riddick and Kyle Brindza haven't played in more than two weeks, but both earned the regular season's final FBS independent player of the week honors Monday, as the last award included games played between Nov. 24 and Dec. 8.
Riddick notched a game-high 179 all-purpose yards and scored a touchdown in Notre Dame's 22-13 win at USC to earn his second FBS independent player of the week honor.
Brindza was honored for a third time after tying the Irish's single-game record with five field goals, including a career-best 52 yarder. The five made field goals gave Brindza 23 on the season, breaking John Carney's single-season school record of 21 in 1986.
Navy linebacker Keegan Wetzel earned the defensive honor after a career-high 11-tackle effort in Saturday's 17-13 win over Army.
