File this one under one of the great "what if" moments of college and pro sports history: What if The Answer went to Notre Dame?
It almost happened, according to Allen Iverson himself. If the former Philadelphia 76ers great had his way, he would have quarterbacked the Irish, before moving on to the Dallas Cowboys. (Hey, why not?)
"He was a far better football player than a basketball player," Gary Moore, Iverson's longtime manager, told Bleacher Report. "Far, far better. We talked about Notre Dame all the time. That was our dream. We watched the Fighting Irish on TV every Saturday.
"He was never supposed to be in the NBA. We were focused on the NFL. He should be in Canton as we speak."
Iverson, who said he loved the Irish's gold helmets, was a QB at Hampton Bethel (Virginia) High, winning Virginia state player of the year honors on both the hardwood and on the gridiron as a prep junior, before legal issues cost him his senior season.
Hey, it's fun to imagine, right? Kind of like we all did last year after LeBron James announced his return to Cleveland:
Urban Meyer, when at Notre Dame, offered a scholarship to this all-state soph WR. LeBron James. Makes you wonder... pic.twitter.com/0eiP7DRsbO

What ever happened to Urban and LeBron anyway?
