Oakland Raiders: 2013 NFL Week 3 Power Rankings

A weekly examination of the Raiders’ ESPN.com Power Ranking:

Preseason: 29 | Last Week: 31 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002

Put simply, the Raiders are eight yards away from being 2-0. Terrelle Pryor had Oakland at the Indianapolis 8-yard line in the closing moments of the Raiders’ heart-wrenching loss in the season opener before throwing a game-sealing interception.

So not even handling their business at home against woeful Jacksonville was enough to give the Raiders a bigger bump.

But that’s what happens when you score a touchdown on your opening drive and then have to settle for five field goal attempts, missing one, against the Jaguars. And when you lose your highest-paid player in $9.5 million strong safety Tyvon Branch to a broken leg for an indefinite amount of time. And the timing couldn't be worse, a week before traveling to No. 2-ranked Denver for "Monday Night Football."

Still, the Raiders are tied for the league lead in sacks with nine (five coming from the secondary) and have the NFL’s top-ranked rushing game. So they have that going for them ... which is nice. But not impressive enough. At least, not yet.
