Stanford ready for Discover Orange Bowl

MIAMI -- Who is ready for some football? After more than a month off, you know Stanford is ready to go in the Discover Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech. We are just a few minutes from kickoff, and both teams have completed their pregame warm-ups.

  • The Cardinal have allowed just 44 points in the past five games, the fewest points allowed in a five-game stretch since 1971.

  • There are no announced changes to the Stanford starting lineup.

  • Must watch the first quarter. Stanford is outscoring opponents 288-78 in the first half, including 145-34 in the first quarter.

  • A total of 16 different Stanford players have scored touchdowns this season.

  • Stanford last won a bowl game in 1996.

  • Last time out, Stanford beat Oregon State 38-0 on Nov. 27. It was Stanford's third shutout of the year, the first time since 1969 the Cardinal had three shutouts in the same season.
