National signing day is Feb. 2, which is just over a week away. Here are some hits to occupy you.
From ESPN Recruiting's Greg Biggins:
RB Steven Manfro commits to UCLA.
Ducks land WR B.J. Kelley and DE Lake Koa Ka'ai.
QB Derrick Brown switches from Utah to Washington
Puka Lopa enjoys Oregon State; Marcus Martin solid with the Trojans.
What is always great fun late in recruiting -- at least for those of us without a dog in the race -- is the bitter switcheroos that take place. If you wonder where rivalries among coaches start, it's almost always in recruiting rather than something that happens during a game.
The key team to watch over the next week: UCLA.
The Bruins have just nine commitments -- the class was expected to be small in any event because the roster is young -- and don't rank every highly, but coach Rick Neuheisel has been a strong closer the past two years. Does he have any surprises over the next week now that the Norm Chow Soap Opera has ended?
We shall see.
