Arizona in a sentence ...

  • Mike Stoops needs six or seven victories and a bowl game to keep his job, and count on him coming through with this favorable schedule.

The Big Question ...

  • With just three starters back on defense, can the Wildcats and senior quarterback Willie Tuitama score enough points to earn the program's first bowl berth since 1998 and save Stoops' job?

Quick hit news ...

  • Hoping to bolster it anemic running game, Arizona signed 225-pound junior college running back Nick Booth during the off-season. Booth could become a power-running option beside Nic Grigsby, Xavier Smith and incoming freshman Keola Antolin.

  • Defensive end Johnathan Turner, the Wildcats most experienced defensive lineman, has been suspended from all team activities this summer after being charged with sexual assault last spring. Turner will remain on scholarship while awaiting trial, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

  • The Wildcats will practice at Fort Huachuca -- an army base -- Aug. 13-16. The players will sleep in the barracks and interact with the troops.
