Washington adds running back

Washington has added running back Kyle Lewis of Downey (Calif.) High School to its 2011 recruiting class, addressing a depth need when coach Steve Sarkisian announced last week that Deontae Cooper would miss a second consecutive season with a knee injury.

A safety and running back, Downey rushed for over 1,200 yards and earned first-team All-CIF Southern Section this past season.

According to the press release announcing the signing, "In the summer of 2010, Lewis gained some notoriety when he posted the best score of 1,200 competitors in the SPARQ (Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction, Quickness) competition in Long Beach, Calif."
