UCLA expects starting quarterback Kevin Prince, who broke his jaw in the waning moments of the win at Tennessee, to be "at least available" to play against Oregon on Oct. 10, according to coach Rick Neuhiesel.

The Bruins are off this weekend, so if Prince, a redshirt freshman, returns for the Oregon game he'd only miss last week's game with Kansas State and next week's visit to Stanford.

"We just got a call from the doctor saying all the healing is going as expected," Neuheisel said.

Kevin Craft got the start against Kansas State and completed 13 of 24 passes for 186 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the Bruins 23-9 victory. He was the 2008 starter, but after throwing 20 interceptions, he fell to No. 3 on the depth chart in the preseason. Still, he got the call over true freshman Richard Brehaut, who was No. 2 on the depth chart.

Neuheisel said Craft likelt will start at Stanford but that's not certain.

"I want there to continue to be competition," he said. "I thought Richard Brehaut really practiced well in anticipation of the Kansas State game. I don't want to retard that progress. I want him to continue to compete. But I would say [Craft] is the leader in the clubhouse."
