Stanford (8-4) will play Oklahoma (7-5) in the 76th Annual Brut Sun Bowl on December 31st in El Paso, Texas.
Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m. (PDT) and the game will be televised nationally on CBS.
Stanford, ranked 19th by AP and 21st in the USA Today Coaches poll, will be making its 21st bowl appearance and its first since 2001, when the Cardinal participated in the non-defunct Seattle Bowl. It also marks Stanford’s third appearance in the Sun Bowl, where it defeated LSU, 24-14 in 1977 and Michigan State, 38-0 in 1996.
Oklahoma will be making its 43rd bowl appearance overall and its third trip to the Sun Bowl after winning the 1981 and ’93 games.
This will be the fifth meeting between Stanford and Oklahoma, with the Sooners leading the series 3-1.
The Sooners posted a 35-29 victory at Stanford Stadium in 1978 with the Cardinal coming back two years later to score a 31-14 upset victory over fourth-ranked Oklahoma in Norman. The Sooners also posted victories in 1983 (27-14) and 1984 (19-7).
