Shaw, 41, is 29-5 in two and a half seasons since taking over for Jim Harbaugh in 2011. Under Shaw, the Cardinal have been to back-to-back BCS bowl games, including a victory in the Rose Bowl last year. Twice in two years Shaw has been named the Pac-12 coach of the year by his peers.

The No. 8 Cardinal are the defending Pac-12 champions and are 6-1 this season, coming off of a 24-10 win over No. 9 UCLA Saturday.

Shaw has NFL roots, having served with the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders and Baltimore Ravens from 1997 to 2005.
