Obviously, a lot will be written about Pete Carroll leaving USC for Seattle.

One place you won't get much: Carroll's Twitter page. He's posted, er, tweeted just once since Dec. 27.

But here's a sampling.

  • Bill Plaschke: It's not time to scold Carroll but to praise him.
  • L.A. Times: Carroll will get control with the Seahawks. USC is left with problems.
  • Most of the early buzz about Carroll's replacement centers on Oregon State coach Mike Riley -- a former Trojans assistant. But just because USC might want him and could pay him a lot more than he makes in Corvallis doesn't mean Riley would take the job.
  • The last paragraph of this Orange County Register story is particularly relevant because many folks at USC won't want embattled athletic director Mike Garrett to pick USC's next football coach: "Further muddling the situation is that school president Steven B. Sample is retiring in August. Many speculate that whoever becomes USC's next president will remove Garrett."
  • A writer doesn't think Jeff Fisher would leave the Tennessee Titans for USC. Or maybe he would.
  • Steve Kelly doesn't think Carroll is a good hire for the Seahawks.
