It became public knowledge Wednesday, through an article from Compete Magazine, that Arizona State offensive lineman Chip Sarafin is gay and told teammates in the spring. Compete is a LGBT sports publication based in Arizona and did a nice job telling Sarafin's story from an angle where his sexuality was treated as matter-of-fact.
After a season plagued by more injuries than any in recent memory, California is already facing injury problems again this season. The Bears lost three players to injury Wednesday, including Nathan Broussard, the team's projected starting middle linebacker, to another torn ACL. Broussard missed the 2013 season with the same injury. Freshman Quentin Tartabull will also miss the season, and sophomore running back Jeffrey Coprich will miss the next four to eight weeks with a broken foot.

With outside linebacker Jabari Ruffin out for the season, USC is trying to figure out the best way to move on defensively. One scenario is to use safety Su'a Cravens in a hybrid/linebacker safety role -- which Cravens told the Orange County Register is similar to how USC defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox used Shaq Thompson at Washington.
