Beavers win but will Rodgers be ready for Civil War?

First, congrats to the Beavers on a gutty comeback performance in a 19-17 win. It would have been deflating to miss out on the Rose Bowl because of a missed extra point.

Second, kudos to backup quarterback Sean Canfield for securing the victory with another solid performance.

Third, let's hope that the Beavers face Oregon next weekend at full strength with Jacquizz Rodgers, who left the Arizona game with a shoulder injury after carrying the ball only four times for 20 yards.

Fourth, how about the other skill guys stepping up to fill the void?

Receiver Sammie Stroughter, whose 47-yard reception set up the winning field goal, catching five passes for 116 yards.

Receiver/scatback James Rodgers rushing 10 times for 102 yards with a touchdown.

And, of course, the defense, on the road, holding a potent offense to just 297 yards,

This means the Civil War is all that stands between the Beavers and their first Rose Bowl berth since 1965.

Should be great fun in Corvallis.

Further, a Beavers Rose Bowl berth means an extra $450,000 per Pac-10 team if USC then gets an at-large BCS invitation.

And USC likely would get to play either the SEC or Big 12 runnerup, which would be great fun.
