Oregon cornerback Jairus Byrd has submitted papers to enter the NFL draft, according to the school.

Rob Moseley pointed out in his blog that that Byrd may -- and Ducks fans likely hope he will -- opt to go the Patrick Chung route and pull out within the three-day grace period.

Byrd, a first-team All-Pac-10 selection this season after intercepting four passes, has started 37 of 39 games over the past three seasons. His 17 career interceptions are tied for second in school history.

If he had opted to return, he and Walter Thurmond III would have been the top cornerback combination in the Pac-10.
