SALT LAKE CITY -- It was a sloppy first half, but Washington leads 10-7.
Turning point: Utah faced a second and 10 from the Huskies 15. QB Jordan Wynn connected with Dres Anderson around the 5-yard line, but Anderson was stripped by CB Desmond Trufant. The Huskies recovered and drove for the go-ahead field goal on the last play of the half.
Stat of the half: Three. That's the number of Utah turnovers, which matches the Utes total from the first three games. One, a fumble on the opening kickoff, was returned for the Huskies only TD. Two others were given away inside the Huskies 10-yard line.
What Utah needs to do, What Washington needs to do: The Utes outplayed the Huskies in the first half on both sides of the ball, but they have been atypically sloppy. Even that Huskies go-ahead drive was aided by two critical personal foul penalties that transformed third and long plays into UW first downs. The Utes outgained the Huskies 166 to 112. So the Utes need to eliminate mistakes. As for Washington, it needs to get its offense in sync and make plays on third down. The offense is 1 of 5 on third down and 0 for 1 on fourth down. Utah is 3 of 5 on third down.
