SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Greetings from Notre Dame Stadium, where the most anticipated home game of the year is just about an hour away from starting.

Tailgaters have been out and about since the early morning, and fans are slowly filing into the stands at the moment with Notre Dame players warming up on the field in standard navy jerseys and brand-new, shiny-beyond-belief helmets.

Seriously, these things are blinding. I didn't recognize the difference when Brian Kelly brought one with him into the Gug before his interview Wednesday, but on the field they clearly stand out. I'm anxious to see how they will look once the sun goes down.

No need to build up this contest, as we all know what's at stake. The Irish are going for their second straight win against the rival Trojans after dropping eight in a row in the series. This is also Notre Dame's first home night game in 21 years, and just its eighth overall.

The Irish likely need to win out to make a BCS bowl game, and a win today would be a big step toward that goal, as they would more than likely crack the BCS standings and national polls. There could be several recruiting implications given the number of prospects on-hand tonight as well.

Don't go anywhere, as our entire team will have you covered to the final horn and beyond. I'll be live-blogging the Notre Dame end from here, in addition to joining ESPNLA.com's Pedro Moura and the WeAreSC.com crew's in-game chat, which can be found here.
