Here are some highlights:
Leach will be paid $2.25 million per season for five years.
He will take home another $100,000 if: 1. the Cougars win the Pac-12 title game; 2. Or play in a BCS bowl; 3. Or finish in the top 10 in any of the four major polls. So a Rose Bowl and final top-10 ranking -- the Cougs did that as recently as 2002 -- would earn Leach a crisp $300 grand.
If Leach bolts for another job before completing the first five years of the contract, he would owe the school $2,250,000 less $450,000 for each year he coaches until there would be no cost to Leach after five years.
If Leach is fired without cause, he would be owed 60 percent ($1.2 million) of his base annual salary of $2 million for each year remaining on his contract.
Leach gets: $75,000 for a non-BCS bowl appearance; $50,000 for winning the Pac-12 North Division; $50,000 for finishing in the Top 25 poll.
He also gets $25,000 just for winning the Apple Cup.
By the way, this article shows how $2.25 million will go a long way when you live in Pullman.
