While the time frame isn't certain, USC running back Stafon Johnson is expected to fully recover from his neck and throat injuries and resume his football career.
The question is where? Johnson is a fourth-year senior, but he could apply for a medical redshirt and return to USC. Or he could enter the NFL draft, which might be the more likely option.
By the way, the LA Times reports in the above link that Johnson dropped a bar holding 275 pounds on his neck while doing bench press. Think about how that might feel for a second.
Doctors reported that the musculature of Johnson's neck saved his life.
Johnson obviously can't speak. He's communicating non-verbally and is being fed through a tube. He will remain hospitalized for at least a week.
And all you Charlie Weis haters should take note that the Notre Dame coach reached out to wish Johnson a speedy recovery.
