Washington has announced that the Huskies' 2013 football season opener against Boise State has been moved from Sept. 7 to Aug. 31.
The move was made because Aug. 31 was deemed a more advantageous date for both programs, according to a press release. The game will be Washington’s first home game in Husky Stadium following its $250 million renovation.
“The diligent work and progress made to date by our development team of Wright Runstad & Co., Turner Construction, and 360 Architects has instilled great confidence that the Husky Stadium renovation will remain on time and on budget,” Huskies AD Scott Woodward said in a statement. “Because of that confidence, we feel very comfortable pushing this game forward to a date which better serves both institutions.”
