If you check out the predictions this morning, you'll see Ted and I are both projecting that the three teams that lost last week -- Cal, Colorado and Washington State -- will all bounce back and get wins in Week 2. It's no coincidence either that all three play FCS programs, so frankly, they should win.
But there were a couple of other teams that didn't put their best cleat forward in Week 1, so our poll question to you this week: Which team needs to bounce back this week?
Cal: Of the three losses last week, most believe (well, at least the Pac-12 blog does) that this was the most stunning. Not just because the Bears lost, but the way they lost. The Bears defense -- thought to be a strength -- couldn't get off the field on third down and let Nevada run all over them.
Colorado: Consistency was the issue for the Buffs, to go along with a sub-par rushing attack. While many predicted a rough season for Colorado, a loss this week would be devastating.
Stanford: They get lumped in with this group because of their rough outing against San Jose State. They get Shayne Skov back at linebacker, which should help the front seven. With USC looming next week, a strong performance against Duke could bring some renewed confidence.
Washington: Another team that won last week -- despite some inconsistency. But how realistic are their chances to bounce back against LSU? The Huskies have one of the toughest runs coming up in the country. A win would be great, but a good showing might be just as impactful.
Washington State: Are the Cougars as bad as they showed last week? The Pac-12 blog doesn't think so. But maybe they're not going to be as good as projected. This is another team that could use a nice dose of confidence.
