USC, Cal among top-10 producing NFL players

USC had the most players on NFL opening day rosters with 44, according to a release from the NFL. Last year, USC ranked second with 41 players on Kickoff Weekend rosters.

The Trojans also produced the most quarterbacks and offensive tackles in the NFL. They are tied for the lead at tight end, linebacker and defensive tackle.

California tied for ninth with 25 NFL players.

Here are the top programs for producing NFL player sin 2012.

1. USC: 44

2. Miami: 37

3. Louisiana State: 36

4. Ohio State: 35

4. Texas 35

4. Georgia: 35

7. Florida: 30

8. Alabama: 26

9. California: 25

9. Iowa: 25

9. Michigan: 25

Here's a breakdown by position of colleges with the most players in the NFL:

QB: USC -- 4

C: Michigan, Ohio State,Texas A&M -- 3

G: Illinois, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin -- 4

OT: USC -- 5

TE: Iowa, USC, Stanford -- 5

RB: Pittsburgh -- 5

WR: Miami, Ohio State -- 7

K: Texas, Washington State -- 2

DB: Texas -- 10

LB: Penn State, USC -- 8

DE: Georgia -- 6
