Oregon's 49-0 beatdown of No. 22 Arizona pushed it up one spot to No. 2 in the AP poll.

The Ducks eclipsed old friend LSU, which struggled against a weak Auburn team. Alabama got 59 of 60 first-place votes. LSU got the other. Florida State, which whipped Clemson, moved up to No. 4.

Oregon State, which won at UCLA, surged into the poll at 18th, while Arizona and the Bruins dropped out. Stanford jumped one spot to No. 8. USC stayed at 13th.

UCLA, Arizona and Arizona State were among teams receiving votes.
