Quick look at the Pac-12 games

September, 29, 2012
I'm in Tucson for Oregon State's visit to Arizona, while Kevin is at CenturyLink Field to watch Oregon and Washington State, picking up the second half of a Seattle twin bill.

Here's a glance at the day's other two games.

Arizona State (3-1, 1-0) at California (1-3, 0-1) 4 p.m., FX: Arizona State is looking for a road win and legitimacy as a potentially nationally ranked team, while California just needs a win. The Bears lead the series 17-14, including victories in eight of the past nine meetings. Last season, the Bears beat the Sun Devils in a 47-38 shootout in Tempe. Cal won the last meeting in Berkeley, downing ASU 50-17 in 2010. Arizona State hasn't won in Berkeley since 1997. Sun Devils sophomore quarterback Taylor Kelly leads the Pac-12, and is ninth in the FBS, with a 182.2 passing efficiency rating while guiding the Sun Devils to 41.2 points per game.

UCLA (3-1, 0-1) at Colorado (1-3, 1-0) 6 p.m., Pac-12 Network: UCLA is looking to bounce back after a home loss to Oregon State knocked it out of the national rankings, while Colorado is trying to keep momentum going after shocking Washington State last weekend. UCLA leads the series 5-2, including a 45-6 win last year. Colorado did win the two previous meetings before it joined the Pac-12, winning 16-14 in 2003 and 31-17 in 2002. Colorado overcame a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to nip Washington State, 35-34, as the Buffaloes won their first conference opener since upsetting No. 3 Oklahoma at Folsom Field in 2007. The win marked the largest rally from a fourth-quarter deficit on the road in program history. UCLA junior receiver Shaquelle Evans and Colorado freshman receiver Nelson Spruce logged their first career 100-yard receiving games last week. Evans hauled in six passes for 148 yards and a touchdown. Spruce caught eight passes for 103 yards and a touchdown, and seven of his eight receptions were good for first downs.
