UCLA is making a change at tailback, prioritizing power and ball security as it heads to Washington State on Saturday.

Derrick Coleman, a 6-foot, 230-pound sophomore, will make his first start this season, replacing Johnathan Franklin.

Coleman had been a nonfactor most of the season before he rushed for 49 yards on 13 carries against Washington last weekend.

UCLA ranks ninth in the Pac-10 with a meager 100 yards per game. Only Washington State (four) has fewer rushing touchdowns than the Bruins (seven).

Also an issue, according to the LA Times: Franklin has fumbled five times, with the Bruins losing two of them.
